Het zal weinig mensen ontgaan zijn dat Valve, en dan met name diens president Doug Lombardi, weinig liefde kent voor de PlayStation 3. Dit is ook aan Gearbox president Randy Pitchford niet voorbij gegaan.
In duidelijke taal laat Pitchford zijn mening weten over Lombardi. Hij gaat hierbij in op een interview waarin Lombardi onlangs wederom kritiek had op de PlayStation 3, iets wat Pitchford toch vooral deed denken aan een fanboy:

“Like there’s a guy who bought the Sony platform and he’s a Sony guy, so he decides he’s going to spend a certain percentage of his time bashing Microsoft. And there’s a guy on Microsoft doing the same thing. Those guys are childish and narrow minded, it’s the same kind of thing."
Pitchford denkt zelfs dat Valve hun eigen manier als de enige manier ziet, zelfs tot het punt waarbij ze nu hun eigen distributieplatform hebben. Het is alsof ze niets geven om de retail, om Marketplace of om het PlayStation Network, juist omdat ze hun eigen Steam hebben.

De eerste stoot is uitgedeeld, het is nu afwachten tot Lombardi een klap terug geeft.
