Met Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 ontwikkelt Infinity Ward momenteel een vervolg voor Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In de game speel je Sergeant Gary 'Roach' Sanderson, een lid van Task Force 141. Samen met Captain 'Soap' MacTavish neemt hij het op tegen Vladimir Makarov in verschillende omgevingen zoals Brazilië, Afghanistan en Rusland. De game verschijnt op 10 november op de PC, de PlayStation 3 en de Xbox 360.
In de Xbox 360 versie kun je natuurlijk opnieuw Achievements verdienen en die Achievements verdien je zoals in het origineel alleen in de singleplayer en Special Ops. Er zijn dus opnieuw geen multiplayer Achievements, waardoor Infinity Ward ons opnieuw beschermt tegen boosters.
