De strijd tussen de PS3 en de Xbox 360 woedt al sinds de consoles gelanceerd zijn, maar met de komst van Kinect en Move heeft deze strijd een tweede dimensie gekregen.
Volgens analist David Cole van DFC intelligence zal de PS3 de strijd van de Xbox 360 qua verkochte exemplaren winnen in 2011. Dit is met name te danken aan 'het het ontbreken van diversiteit' in games die de Xbox 360 biedt. Hij doelt hiermee vooral op het gebrek aan games gericht op de Japanse en Europese markt. Hij zegt dat Microsoft de hoop om Azië te veroveren had moeten opgeven en zich vooral moeten gaan focussen op Europa. Hij denkt evenmin dat de Kinect games hieraan iets zullen veranderen.
