Voordat je een product op de markt brengt moet je hier een patent aanvragen, hiermee voorkom je dat de concurrent niet ineens met hetzelfde idee komt. Ook Nintendo vroeg onlangs een nieuw patent aan.
Het patent lijkt te gaan om een nieuwe handheld die opvallend veel weg heeft van de Wii-Mote besturingstechnologie. Zowel in het plaatje als in de bijgeleverde tekst hebben ze het over X/Y/Z sense technologie, waarbij bewegingen geregistreerd kunnen worden. Hieronder kun je het plaatje vinden en de tekst die erbij hoort:

The housing incorporates an XY-axis acceleration sensor to detect an acceleration in an X-axis and Y-axis direction and a Z-axis contact switch to detect an acceleration in a Z-axis direction.
