StarCraft: Ghost Interview

IGN heeft een interview gehouden met Blizzard over StarCraft: Ghost. Er is een heleboel informatie vrijgegeven en er zijn wat screenshots bijgepost.

John: No new species are in the game, although we are adding new unit types to the Terrans and Protoss. The Terrans are getting a light infantry unit. That unit will be seen a lot in various Terran installations. A bit of advice for you: try to shoot the grenade before he throws it at you. The Protoss are getting a ranged infantry unit. That unit will be appearing in some of the Protoss base infiltration missions. You'd better move quickly to get away from its psi-streaming gun.
IGN: Why choose a female lead for Ghost? Was it for sex appeal or was there another reason in mind?

John: Sarah Kerrigan was a strong female Ghost unit in our previous StarCraft games. You never really saw her, except briefly in some cut scenes, so there wasn't a lot there to be graphically appealing. Yet, she was widely regarded as being an impressive/appealing character. We wanted our lead character in StarCraft: Ghost to be regarded in a similar fashion. We thought it would be really cool to have a very strong soldier that could wield an impressive arsenal, but also be very lithe and agile. Nova is practically a gymnast, and she's very capable, when on a tightrope, of chewing gum and kicking ass.

IGN: Could you provide us with a recap of the storyline for the game?

John: We have an involved, twisting story, but I can't reveal the ultimate objective in the game. I can say that Nova's trying to find out about the mysterious chemical known as Terrazine Gas. It is a powerful psychic reagent that has attracted attention from the Zerg, Protoss, and Terrans alike.

IGN: What framerate will the finished game run at?

John: At least 30 frames per seconds on all three platforms.

IGN: Are there any gameplay elements in Ghost that will appeal to fans who grew up playing the RTS titles? Such as building units or mining, for example?

John: Elements such as building units or harvesting resources are really tailored for real-time strategy games. Because StarCraft: Ghost is an action-adventure title, our main goal is to transport you out of the top-down "god perspective" employed in RTS games and put you right there in the middle of the battlefield where the action is. We think that players will enjoy exploring the immersive world we're building for them, and those familiar with the StarCraft RTS games and books will have a blast squaring off against full-scale versions of the units that they've come to fear over the years.
