In 2011 werd Amplitude Studios opgericht in Parijs. De studio is vooral bekend vanwege Games2Gether, een platform voor gamers waarin designs gepost kunnen worden die ze vervolgens in hun games gebruiken.
De studio bracht tot nu toe een viertal games uit, te weten Endless Space (2012), Endless Legend (2014), Dungeon of the Endless (2014) en Endless Space 2 (2016). Al deze titels verschenen op de PC en dit ontging ook SEGA niet. Om hun PC game portfolio te vergroten en de ontwikkelcapaciteiten binnen Amerika en Europa te vergroten hebben ze de studio 1 juli jl. overgenomen.
Jurgen Post, President en COO van SEGA Europe, laat weten:

Amplitude Studios sluit zich aan bij studio's als Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive en Relic Entertainment.
