Kort na de aankondiging van de aankomende online heists staat Grand Theft Auto V wederom in het nieuws, zo lijkt het erop dat stemacteur Shawn Fonteno zijn mond voorbij heeft gepraat.
De man die het karakter Franklin van zijn stem voorziet zegt dat één van de projecten waar hij aan werkt nieuwe DLC voor Grand Theft Auto V is. Hij voegt hieraan toe dat dit werk bovenaan zijn lijstje van af te werken punten is, maar geeft verder geen details vrij.
Geheel onverwacht komt de 'aankondiging' van verhalende content niet, Rockstar maakte dit namelijk al eerder bekend, echter stond het destijds nog gepland voor een release in 2014. In plaats daarvan lijkt de aandacht naar de Heists voor GTA Online gegaan te zijn, een punt waarvan de ontwikkelaar bevestigde dat ze er strubbelingen mee hadden.
Als excuus aan de fans heeft Rockstar een gratis kerstupdate vrijgegeven met daarin nieuwe voertuigen, wapens en de mogelijkheid om drie huizen te bezitten. De update is 1.23 GB groot en bevat het volgende:

Ook na de release van de Heists zal Rockstar de Xbox 360 en PlayStation 3 versies blijven ondersteunen, zo bevestigde de studio nogmaals. Ze voegen hieraan toe de oudere systemen nog niet te willen verlaten, maar dat er wel een moment komt dat dit zal gebeuren vanwege de technische restricties.
