Onder leiding van Kojima Productions ontwikkelde Bayonetta developer Platinum Games Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, een game die Raiden definitief tot publiekslieveling dient om te vormen na zijn flitsprestatie in de vorige Metal Gear Solid.
De game is nog maar net uit, maar Hideo Kojima denkt reeds over de sequel, en daarbij zou hij graag terugkeren naar zijn originele visie voor Metal Gear Rising. Hij wil namelijk Gray Fox (Frank Yaeger) in de hoofdrol in plaats van Raiden. Spijtig genoeg voor Kojima wordt hij genegeerd door Platinum, één ding wordt echter al duidelijk: zowel Platinum als Kojima denken over Metal Gear Rising 2.
Honestly I think that personally if we are going to make a sequel to Rising it should feature Frank Yaeger as a main character versus zombies... nano machine-powered zombies. That's what I'm proposing to Platinum and the producer of the project, but they seem to be ignoring me.
