Het voortdurende geroep om een nieuwe generatie spelcomputers geeft aan dat het gat tussen de PC's en huidige generatie spelcomputers groter lijkt te worden, toch geeft THQ aan dat Metro: Last Light fundamenteel hetzelfde zal zijn op de PC en Xbox 360.
In gesprek met het Official Xbox Magazine laat communicatiehoofd Huw Beynon weten dat zaken als de gameplay, dynamische lichten, physics en A.I. op zowel de PC als de Xbox 360 hetzelfde zullen zijn. Ondanks dat er tijdens presentaties gebruikt werd gemaakt van een PC versie in combinatie met een Xbox 360 controller zal de gameplay ervaring op deze systemen gelijk zijn.

“There are obviously things we can do on PC, just because this is a studio where you give them a hardware limit and they’ll expand to fill it and push it – higher resolution, slighter higher frame rate at that resolution, a few fancier lighting and graphical effects, whatever we can eke out of the very latest generation of graphics cards for PC. But all the fundamentals – dynamic lighting, physics and A.I. – everything that has a material impact on the game is identical across platforms.”
Beynon is overtuigd dat het spel één van de best uitziende titels op de Xbox 360 is, waarbij het team grootse verbeteringen in de engine heeft doorgevoerd om vooral de buitenlocaties in beeld te brengen.
Metro: Last Light verschijnt in maart 2013 op de PC, PlayStation 3 en Xbox 360.
