Killer is Dead speelt zich af in een dichtbije toekomst vergelijkbaar met, maar niet dezelfde als, de wereld zoals we dit nu kennen. De speler kruipt in de huid van een beul genaamd Mondo Zappa. Hij hanteert een Japans zwaard in zijn rechterhand en heeft verwisselbare wapens in zijn kunstmatige linkerarm. Het is zijn ultieme doel om verschillende gruwelijke misdadigers over de hele wereld en daarbuiten te executeren. Het spel verschijnt onder andere op de Xbox 360, onderstaand alvast de achievements.
