Het Game Developer Magazine reikt dit jaar voor de eerste maal een Award voor beste ontwikkelaar uit met het Top 50 Developer Report. Ze hebben zich hiervoor gebaseerd op verkoopcijfers, Metacritic scores en meningen van ontwikkelaars.
Nintendo Kyoto behaalde de eerste plaats, de studio is verantwoordelijk voor de Brain Training serie en Wii Play. Infinity Ward eindigde tweede dankzij Call of Duty 4. De beoordeling werd gegeven op basis van spellen die in 2007 in Noord-Amerika zijn verschenen.
