Hoewel de Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatible is als het gaat om Nintendo Switch games betekent dit niet dat alle games probleemloos af zullen spelen. Nintendo heeft alvast een lijst gemaakt van de namen die problemen ondervinden.
Een game die niet op deze lijst staat is Nintendo Labo, de Virtual Reality ervaring van de Nintendo Switch. De reden is dat het kartonnen omhulsel niet om de Nintendo Switch 2 past.
Andere games kunnen opstartproblemen of compatibility problemen hebben, waarbij Nintendo aan geeft dat er mogelijk nog fixes verschijnen alvorens de hardware zal worden uitgebracht. Voor sommige games kiest de ontwikkelaar zelf voor een oplossing, zo kent Fortnite weliswaar problemen, maar zal Epic Games een nieuwe versie uitbrengen voor de Switch 2.
