De Yakuza serie heeft een grote schare fans, toch waren het tot voor kort enkel PlayStation gamers die ervan konden genieten. Gelukkig is hier sinds enige tijd verandering in gekomen met de Steam releases en dit doet SEGA ook anders denken.
Met drie Yakuza titels op Steam ziet de uitgever het nu als een multiplatform serie. Dit betekent dat ze de PC nu ook als platform zien voor de games en toekomstige delen hierop uitgebracht blijven worden. Tegelijkertijd wil dit niet zeggen dat de releases simultaan plaats zullen vinden, SEGA wil wel dat het kwalitatieve PC ports zijn.
De uitgever hoopt ook dat we meer Atlus games op de PC zien verschijnen, dit ligt echter bij Atlus zelf. Afgelopen januari verscheen Catherine Classic al op de PC en ze hopen dat dit een eerste stap is naar meer toekomstige releases:

Let's launch Catherine, which then gives the IP owners and business owners at Atlus—who are in their first foray into the PC market—the ability to evaluate the success and how that can fit in for their future road map. I'm pleased to say they now have that information, so they're able to evaluate it. For us it was a positive experience, and hopefully they'll share that and consider it in their own road map."
Vorig jaar werd aangegeven dat Yakuza 6 eveneens naar Steam zou komen, een releasedatum is nog niet bekend. Het plan is om ook de Yakuza spin-off Judgment naar Steam te brengen, details over deze uitgave zijn verder nog niet gegeven.
