2. Frequently Asked Questions
------------------------------
Q: Do the difficulty achievements stack?
A: Yes, but this question only applies to beating the game on Warrior and getting the achievement for Acolyte. You have to beat Warrior to unlock Mentor, and you have to beat Mentor to get Master Ninja, so you can't start on Master Ninja and get all 4 difficulty achievements in one game.
Q: How do you get the weapon achievements? You don't get some weapons until later in the game!
A: You need to finish the game first and start a new game+ to start the game with the weapon.
Q: What's the difference between loading the save you made after the credits and choosing NEW GAME on a difficulty you beat and keeping your weapons?
A: Loading the save you made after the credits starts you at the start of the game with all of the same stats that you had when you finished the game. If you do this however, you can't upload any scores to the leaderboards.
Starting a new game on a difficulty you already beat will reset everything to level 1 and remove health and Ki upgrades. If you want to upload your scores to the leaderboards, you want to use this method.
Q: But what if I want to start a whole new game? Is the only way to delete all my saves?!?
A: No, when you pick NEW GAME from the main menu on a difficulty you have already beaten, you are presented with a question asking you if you want to keep your weapons and Ninpo. Simply answer NO and you will start a new game with nothing carried over.
Q: If I'm going for the weapon achievements, can I switch to a different weapon to injure (but not kill) enemies or bosses?
A: No, you cannot switch to a different weapon to injure enemies or bosses. You can however, switch to a different weapon as long as you don't hit an enemy with it.
NOTE: If you are doing a Vigoorian Flails run you MUST switch to a different weapon in Chapter 10 to depress the switch just before the stairs, as the Flails don't have any attacks that can press the switch down. You'll still get the achievement though, assuming you remember to re-equip the other weapon immediately after you press the switch.
Q: Does it matter if I load the save I made after the credits or start a new game with my weapons reset to level 1 to get the weapon achievements/weapon run leaderboards?
A: For the achievements, no, it doesn't matter which you choose. If you want to upload your score, you have to start a new game on the difficulty you already beat and reset your weapons to level 1.
Q: If I beat the game on Acolyte, can I start a new game+ on Warrior?
A: No, New Game + only lets you carry over your stats on a difficulty that you have already beaten. You cannot beat Acolyte then start a New Game+ on Warroir.
Q: What are the Tests of Valor?
A: The Tests of Valor are just that. They are tests to test your skill. Some are hard to complete even on Acolyte, others are incredibly easy.
Q: Are the tests of Valor required or optional?
A: They are completely optional, however they do give you good items and achievements, so if you don't do them you'll be missing out on those.
Q: How do you get the Tests of Valor to light up?
A: You have to get the Rod of Trials in Chapter 2. It's just outside the room where you get the Falcon's Talons (also see the glitches section).
Q: Can the Tests of Valor be done on a New Game+?
A: Yes, the ToV can be done on a New Game+ if they are kicking your ass on your first game.
Q: How many Tests of Valor are there, and what chapters are they in?
A: There are 9 Tests of Valor, and they are located in Chapters 3-11, one test per chapter. They are all fairly obvious, so unless you play the game with your eyes shut, they are pretty hard to miss.
Q: Auto saving or manual saving?
A: Definitely manual. Sure, auto saving may be nice since you only have to press one button to do everything, but it only leaves room for you to be screwed later in the game, if you want to backtrack or restart a chapter, or get hit with the game breaking glitch in chapter 10 (see glitches section).
Q: I found a Giant Crystal Skull in Chapter 13. What does it do besides take up space in my inventory?
A: Currently, no one knows exactly what it does. There is speculation going around that it does all sorts of things, but I have yet to see any solid proof of anything (also see skull section).
Q: How do you upload your score to the leaderboards?
A: At the end of every chapter, you have the option to upload your score before proceeding to the next chapter.
Q: Why isn't my Talisman of Rebirth working?
A: It's not working because you didn't equip it.
Q: When the DS becomes the TDS, does it always become level 4?
A: Yes, the TDS is always level 4, even if it was only level 1 or 2 beforehand. However, you get the TDS late in the game, so unless you're trying to conserve essence, you should just upgrade the DS as much as you can to make the game easier.
Q: When I view the leaderboards, they usually freeze on me! How can I prevent this?
A: Just slow down while scrolling. Scorll 2 or 3 pages at a time then wait for it do download everyone's gamerpic before you scroll another 2 or 3 more pages.
Q: Why can't I use my LotG or LotTG?
A: Because your health is maxed.
3. Ninja Cinema
------------------------------
Q: What is it?
A: Ninja Cinema is an option that allows you to record your game play. You can also download other peoples' replays through the leaderboards. You can also upload one replay file to XBL for others to see.
Q: How do you turn it on?
A: Simply go into the options, and turn it on.
Q: How much space does it take up on my hard drive/memory card?
A: Usually, a single replay that goes from one save statue to another will average anywhere between 50 KB to 250 KB, depending on how long it is and what's going on in the clip. If you record an entire chapter on one file, I would imagine it could go to 500 KB or possibly more. I doubt any single replay file would be over 1 MB.
Q: I turned it on, but it doesn't say REC.
A: Sometimes the game likes to not show you the REC in the corner of the screen. However, as long as it is set to ON in the options, it is recording. You can also tell it's recording when you go to save your game; it takes slightly longer to save both your game AND your replay.
Q: Can you record an entire chapter, instead of just save point to save point, without not saving for the entire chapter?
A: Yes. Simply start the chapter with ninja cinema OFF, and play the chapter through to just before the end in one sitting, without dying, saving whenever you want. Just before the end of the chapter, press the BACK button and turn ninja cinema ON. When you save the game after the chapter is over, it saves the entire chapter's replay. If you want to do this for the next chapter as well, remember to turn ninja cinema back OFF sometime before the first save statue of the next chapter.
You can also use this trick if you want to save more than one part of a chapter, for example from the 2nd save point to the 5th save point. Using my example, just quit to the main menu after saving at the 2nd save point, load that save, play through saving at the 3rd and 4th save point (optional), and when you get to the 5th save point, turn ninja cinema ON, then save your game. It'll save all of the game play between the 2nd and 5th save point.
Q: How do I upload a video? It says I'm not ranked, but I am!
A: You need to be ranked in the top 2000 do be able to upload a video.
4. Glitches
------------------------------
To save time and space, I'm only listing glitches that actually affect the game play or can be abused for your benefit. Pointless glitches won't be listed here.
***GAME BREAKING GLITCH IN CHAPTER 10***
Chapter 10, right after the second save point, there is a pool of acid with enemies in it. If you die in this room and choose to continue, the enemies won't spawn, and since the enemies don't spawn, you will be unable to continue. Hopefully, you've been using manual saving and have a save at the start of the chapter so you can restart the chapter, but not the whole game. If you've been using auto saving, or manual saving but not keeping backup saves, then the only way to get past the glitch once it happens is to restart the entire game.
UNABLE TO OBTAIN ROD OF TRIALS
Some people have reported that the Rod of Trials doesn't appear for them in Chapter 2 after killing all the enemies just outside of the room where you get the Falcon's Talons. A simple way to avoid this glitch is to stay in the flat area of land and not go up the stairs at all.
GETTING THE GAMERPIC FOR FINDING ALL THE SKULLS EARLY
If you go on the leaderboards, and find and watch a replay of a person that has all 30 skulls IN THE VIDEO, you will unlock the gamerpic for finding all of the skulls. You will not get the achievements, however. This is somewhat complicated, as there's no way to tell if the person had all 30 skulls when he made the video, so you just have to pick random videos and watch them.
MURAMASA'S SHOP GLITCH
Muramasa sells you unique items that you missed, such as Ninpo spells, Life of the Gods, weapons, etc. If you are playing on a new game+, with maxed health and Ninpo spells, you can't find the items (it just gives you essence). Muramasa then sells them to you. However, after a while, you will be maxed on Life of the Gods, Lives of the Thousand Gods, and Jewel of the Demon Seal, and you will be unable to use them since your health and Ninpo spells are maxed. Since you are unable to use them, and Muramasa wants to sell them to you, you won't be able to buy them to show other items you have missed. As a result of this glitch, the maximum Ki is 7. If you finish the game with this glitch, then load the save you made after the credits, the shop resets, but it'll just happen again at the first shop in Chapter 2.
YELLOW ESSENCE FARMING
Chapter 1 - After the second save statue, kill the enemies, cross the river, kill the enemies again, and proceed around the corner. Kill the two enemies that attack you and backtrack back around the corner. Go back forward again and kill the enemies again. Repeat as much as desired.
Chapter 2 - Just before the third save point, you have to drop into a hole in the roof. Just kill the enemies, but don't drop down the hole. Instead, hang over the ledge of the roof and jump back up. The enemies will respawn. Repeat as much as desired.
Chapter 9 - In the green tunnels where you fight the worm boss, don't kill the boss but kill the smaller beetles as much as desired. Works better if you do it before you trigger the boss.
5. Crystal Skulls
------------------------------
Note: There are a total of 30 crystal skulls hidden throughout the game. All the skulls are found by the end of chapter 11. If you are following this in order to find them all, I've included the total amount you should have after finishing each chapter. They do carry over, so even across multiple play throughs - you only need to find them once. This works when playing on different difficulties as well, you aren't required to play new game+ to keep all the skulls you've found so far - they are automatically saved as found across all play types. The only known in-game reward is a giant crystal skull found in chapter 13 once you find all 30 skulls. It is possible to obtain this in your first play through, otherwise it'll just show up in this chapter on a subsequent play through. It's currently unknown what it does if anything, but the information I do know is included near the end of this faq. There are also 3 achievements associated with finding them (20 gamer points for every 10 skulls found), and a gamer picture of a skull once you find them all. The picture looks exactly like the achievement pictures for finding the skulls, except it doesn't have the numbers on it.
Chapter 1: 2 skulls
1. Shortly after obtaining the fire ninpo, you will come outside to a ledge where you are supposed to jump off and land below to fight a bunch more guys. If you time it right, you can jump across to the roof on the other side and get a skull. If you mess up, there's a ladder where you can climb up and try again.
2. Up next to the first flaming archers you encounter. Run up and jump off the tree halfway down the stairs as you walk towards the bridge they are firing from.
After finishing chapter 1 you should have a total of 2 skulls.
Chapter 2: 2 skulls

There's a skull on one of the steel apartment exterior staircases/balconies somewhat near a ninja corpse. Wall run to reach it.
2. Near the midpoint of the level, when jumping from the broken overpass to a ladder - you should see a ledge with a skull on it in front of you. Simply jump over to it and grab it.
3. On the girders inside the statue of liberty. When you're climbing up the stairs to the save point, jump on the girders in the middle of the room and you should see it resting in the corner of the room.
Total of 9
Chapter 5: 3 skulls
1. On a boat in the second body of water you can access. Instead of crossing the bridge - hang left and go around the corner to where you obtain the Kusarigama - run across the river and on one of the boats, there is a skull.
2. Shortly after, you'll walk into a marketplace with a bunch of tables and chairs with a single exit on the left hand side. The skull is immediately to your right outside the doorway you come out of.
3. After you pick up the spear gun and swim through approximately 2 areas, there will be a bunch of weird exploding jelly fish creatures (the second group you see) on your right in a small passage way. They keep spawning for a while, so just keep blasting them and racking up essence. After they're all dead, you can swim over there for a skull at the bottom of the floor on your left.
Total of 12
Chapter 6: 3 skulls
1. At the very beginning of the level, after you flip up between the pillars - immediately turn around and jump on the section of roof behind you that is sloping down into the water. Cross over to the other side of the roof and walk down a few steps to the skull tucked away very near to where you first jumped up.
2. When you reach the guillotine, cut the rope for a skull.
3. In the library inside the castle (where you fight a lot of ninjas and there is a fireplace) there's a skull in one of the bookshelves. It will appear after you make the books fall out by hitting the bookshelves.
Total of 15

1. When you first reach the controls at the front of the ship and start destroying them, a skull will be uncovered slightly to the left of the main control panel.
2. In an alcove on your right after you start walking into a new hallway around the time that you find the tonfas off a dead ninja. It's next to some debris.
Total of 17
Chapter 8: 4 skulls
1. In the snow when you're crossing the minefield. It's after the first section of mines where everyone was shooting at you through the windows of the three story building. Be careful with this one, because there's mines right under the skull, so jump over to it, grab it, and jump away quickly.
2. Once you get back inside again and leave the bell tower, you'll begin descending down a winding square staircase. In one of the holes on the wall with candles in it there is a skull.
3. After you enter the subway, in the room before where you find the Dignitary's ID Card - there is a skull on the right hand side of the room.
4. On the one of the gears about halfway up the area where you're jumping from one to another. It should be somewhat difficult to miss, but it's on one of the medium sized horizontal ones.
Total of 21
Chapter 9: 4 skulls
1. In the big open body of water you come to with the two searchlights. Head all the way to the right hand corner and its behind one of the big wooden towers.
2. After using the jade mask and entering a new area you will eventually come to a rope you must use to climb across to reach the other side. About midway through this climb - just past the giant tree, there is a branch you can turn and swing towards on your right. Swing to this and then to one more branch, then jump again onto the small piece of land for the skull and a hidden shop.
3. After defeating the worm boss, right after the save there is another area with smaller worm enemies, the skull is on the far right hand side of this area just sitting on the ground.

Chapters 12-14: NO SKULLS

Here is a video posted by someone other than myself on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vUj-XTfmwg
Note: This video contains every skull except the second skull in chapter 10. Also note that he killed the enemies before making the videos, so you will obviously have to kill enemies to get to some of the skulls.
Giant Crystal Skull:
To my knowledge this was originally discovered by MasterSDKR. A Giant Crystal skull can be obtained in New Game+ on chapter 13 if you finish the game with all 30 skulls.
He included this picture: http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s7300211el8.jpg
At the beginning of Chapter 13, after going through a few rooms of enemies, you come across a large green pillar in a room with centaurs. The Giant Crystal Skull is in there, plain as day.
The description reads:
Obtainable only by those with superhuman powers of observation.
The details tab says the following:
A gigantic crystal skull from ancient legend.
According to legend, this enormous skull belonged to a giant who walked the earth long ago. In these ancient times, the world knew no peace, and tribes fought each other to near extinction. None could see an end to this chain of suffering, until the giant appeared. He vowed to bear the sins of mankind upon his own soul, and offered himself as a sacrifice to the gods. His skull was then locked away in a room overflowing with human suffering. The legend ends with the warning, "He who possesses this skull must accept the fate of the giant as his own."
In one of his posts he also noted that he has beaten the game with the skull in his inventory and there were no apparent differences...
Some people have noted that when playing new game+ again with the skull in their inventory there appear to be more enemies, and some in places they weren't, but this hasn't exactly been confirmed yet. There is also speculation that says that it gives you more Karma, but again, no real tests have been conducted to see if this is true.
6. Bosses
------------------------------
=====Tips=====
Dash-Jumping
Hopefully someone has a more creative name for it, but this is a technique you absolutely need to learn, especially since it's so simple. Due to the recovery time of jumping and dashing (AKA The Reverse Wind Technique) dodging in NG2 is somewhat of an art, but if you jump immediately after you dash, then dash upon landing you effectively remove that recovery time and move a whole lot faster. Most players already know about this but if you don't use it, you really should.
Don't get too far away!
95% of bosses in NG2 can do way more damage to you from afar than you can them. Most have projectiles, and almost all can close distance on you quickly and often times painfully. Charging tackles, Teleporting throws, unfairly powerful fireballs, it's all here, so don't give them a reason to bring out those moves. A good rule of thumb is to stay a "flying-sparrows-distance" away from them, or however far their arm/weapon reaches in the case of larger enemies, that way when they're in their recovery period you can launch a counter attack quickly and relatively safely.
Dodging is far better than blocking
If you block all the time, you're going to get thrown. Plain and simple; staying in one place is for the suicidal, even if your defense is up. There's only one boss in the entire game that I can remember has an escapable throw so don't think you'll just get caught and tap your way out; once you're grabbed, you're along for the ride. It should be noted however, if a boss throws you in the air, you can heal while there (there's damage when you hit the ground so if your health is low keep it in mind.)
Save those Lives of the Thousand Gods!
These little life savers now have the ability to fully heal you as well as give you a longer health bar. The usefulness of this in later boss battles should be apparent, and you don't really need the boost anyway. Either you can dodge enemy attacks or you can't.
Quality over quantity!
There are situations where one weapon might be better than the other, be it because of speed, power, or for inexplicable reasons, it just does a **** load of damage to a particular boss. Not to mention it's fun just seeing all the various moves and maneuvers a weapon can do, but nothing makes up for mastering your weapons, and no matter how strong they are against the boss, they're useless if you can't use them or they aren't leveled up.
Now on to the FAQ!
*Note* This FAQ was based on Acolyte and Warrior difficulties.
=====Bosses=====
Chapter 1
Rasetsu
Difficulty-Easy
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword or Lunar Staff
Special Attacks-
Jumping Spider (gets on all fours(...eights?) and hops around trying to land on you)
Wind blades (Charges up and shoots anywhere between 1-4 wind blades at you)
This guy isn't terribly difficult, just wait for him to pull off a combo and attack him when him defenses are down. Flying swallows are completely ineffective on him so don't bother too much with that. When he gets low to the ground and hops off the screen, start moving because he'll try to land on you. He jumps a few times but don't worry too much if he does land on you, it will make him stop jumping and the damage isn't too bad. Don't get too far from him though; if you do he'll use his wind blades attack which hurts a lot. When he slumps low to the ground like he's trying to catch his breath, press Y to use an Obliteration Technique on him and end the battle.
Chapter 2
Rasetsu Part 2
Difficulty-Moderately Easy
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword or Lunar Staff
Special Attacks-
Jumping Spider (gets on all fours(...eights?) and hops around trying to land on you)
Wind blades (Charges up and shoots anywhere between 1-4 wind blades at you)
This is the same fight, the only difference here is he'll have a couple of ninjas to back him up. Use the Inferno ninpo to take care of the ninjas and if you have a spare moment, use the essence to use an Ultimate Technique on Rasetsu.
Genshin
Difficulty- Hard
Recommended Weapon-Lunar Staff, Falcon's Talons
Special Attacks-
Flying Swallow
Shuriken
This guy is a lot like Murai from the first game. He can grab you out of a UT so don't try those, He'll dodge your ninpo so don't bother, and he'll launch a flying swallow of his own if you try yours, so the Dragon Sword might not be your best bet here. He has a shuriken attack that he'll throw if you get too far but the damage is pretty small. He'll come to you, so just be patient and use the Lunar Staff's reach to your advantage. Strike him after he finishes a combo or lands from a Flying Swallow. I found that the Falcon's Talons are a great way of matching Genshin's speed and doing some great damage in a short time, so if you're proficient with them, use them.
Chapter 3
Metal Worm
Difficulty-Medium
Recommended Weapon-Bow
Special Attacks-
Kamikazee Babies (sends miniature versions of itself at you)
Electric Face (Sends a huge blue face made of pure electricity at you)
Electric Volley (Fires multiple balls of electricity)
Ah yes, the first out of three reasons I wrote this guide. This guy is actually simple, you just have to pay attention and try not to let his attacks build up on you. Start off the battle by charging up arrows and shooting them at his face. While he's right side up, you'll get shocked and thrown back if you try to get close so don't bother with melee weapons just yet. Directly in front of him is a horrible place to be so try getting to the side of him and shooting him. Eventually, during the battle, he'll send his spawn after you, and while not greatly damaging it's more than a little annoying and he likes to stack his attacks. Getting stunned by the fish and getting hit by his electricity balls is a very bad way to start the day. By far his most dangerous attack is a gigantic homing face he sends after you. It hurts A LOT and it has a large blast radius so avoid it by running away then jumping at a 90 degree angle from it. If at any point he flips upside down, that's your cue to let loose with your weapons, and when he hits the ground, press Y to finish him off with an OT.
Chapter 4
Giant
Difficulty-Easy
Recommended Weapon-Whatever ya got.
Special Attacks-
Pretty much anything works on this guy. Arrows to the face (though this I don't wholly recommend due to his reach, and the fact he'll throw debris) incendiary shurikens, or just the good ol' 1, 2. He doesn't have too many attacks worth mentioning, he just tries to smack you around, but he's pretty powerful (Obviously given his size.) Just stay smart, and stay close to his ankles.
Alexei
Difficulty-Moderately Easy
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword
Special attacks-
Tornado Spin (Creates a whirlwind by spinning rapidly)
Discharge (protects himself with a small area of discharging lightning)
Lightning Bolt (Shoots lightning when you're at a distance)
Teleport (likes to teleport around, occasionally teleports next to you for a grab)
Alexei simply loves to throw you around. It's kind of hard to tell when he's going to grab you-generally he'll dash towards you first, but not always; just move to the side when you see him rise to the air and rear back. He's susceptible to the flying swallow, and he doesn't dodge ninpo quite as well as Genshin so let him have it. He's a quick guy so it might be hard to keep a pin on him, but he stuns relatively easy so get him in a combo and keep him there. If you get too greedy, he might shoot lightning in a small area around himself or start spinning and create a vortex (there's a bit of a warm up to this so get away if you can) but the damage is rather insignificant. Nioden points out that you can damage him with incendiary shurikens while he spins. Just pelt him with your favorite combos and when he slumps over, and brings his face low to the ground, press Y to finish him off with an OT.
Chapter 5
Water Dragon
Difficulty-Easy
Recommended Weapon-Bow
Ice Spines (Shoots icy spines from its back at you)
Scream (Roars and sends a column of water at you)
Belly Flop (Dives under, breaches, then lands on you.)
Ghost Fish Summon
Now there are two ways you can fight this battle; one, you can get in the water and attack his chest (where the glowing part is) with the lunar staff. This works well but he'll be able to use his throw in the water which does moderate damage, and worse yet, he can use his belly flop attack, which is sure to kill you if he lands on you. If however you stay on the platform and shoot fully charged arrows at his face, you won't have to worry about either attack. He'll still shoot the spines and roar but the damage is small. Some people like to get on his back, but this makes him summon ghost fish and unless you need the essence I really wouldn't bother when the arrow method is so easy. When he throws his head back in a daze, hop in the water and finish him off with an OT.
Chapter 6
Skeleton Dragon
Difficulty-Annoying
Recommended Weapon-Dragons Claw & Tigers Fang
Special Attacks-
Kick (Kicks bones at you and creates a mini shock wave)
This guy is rather annoying because he'll throw you every chance he gets, and seeing as how you'll have to be right next to his foot, that's going to be quite often. He does telegraph his throws a bit by raising his left hand, but due to his size that may be hard to see. Just don't sit in one place for too long and you'll be fine. He has an assortment of strong sweeps and blows but the only thing you really have to look out for is his kicks. These do HUGE damage, and it has a pretty decent range. If you see him pull his right leg back like he's going to kick a soccer ball get moving. Occasionally, once you've done enough damage he'll stumble and sit down, this is your cue to let loose with a fully charged UT. Make sure you get his ankles/feet, for some reason he receives little to no damage on his wrists/hands. For those who've leveled up the DC/TF I find it does wonderful amounts of damage to him for some reason, especially when you use the UT.
Volf
Difficulty-Easy
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword
Special Attacks-
Running Tackle
This guy is just a big ol' target. He has a long range but his attacks can be blocked and they're easily dodged due to their relative slowness. In fact, sometimes they just go right over your head. Nice aim eh? Flying swallows work pretty well so you can get a little cheap on the off chance he's giving you too much trouble. If you get too far away he'll run after you and try to trample you, but just dash out of the way and let him have it.
Chapter 7
Genshin
Difficulty-Hard
Recommended Weapon-Something Fast
Special Attacks
Shurikens
Flying Swallow
Oh geez, not only is Genshin faster and stronger than before, but he has incendiary ninjas with him. Joy. Use your ninpo to get the ninjas out of the way, but don't bother with a UT. If he doesn't dodge it, he'll just hurt you. Don't bother with the scythe either; it's tempting, and it does great damage but it's simply too slow if you're not a master of it. Handle him much like you did the last time, dodging instead of blocking his combos, and launching a counter attack when he's done. He has a projectile attack this time around, but it's the very least of your worries. Be patient and don't try to follow him around the arena.
Armadillo
Difficulty-Moderately Easy
Recommended Weapon- Incendiary Shurikens, Dragon Sword, or Scythe
Special Attacks-
Roll (Balls up and rolls after you)
Trample (Steps on you. Happens anytime it moves)
Flame Breath (Breathes fire from (his) right to left)
Eruption (Shoots balls of magma everywhere)
Overheat (Goes ballistic)
He's very weak to incendiary shurikens, so when the battle starts run in towards him (otherwise he'll curl into a ball and come after you) and pepper his face with the shurikens. If you don't have any, or run out, use the Dragon Sword's Flying Swallow or the Scythe's XY combo on his face for BIG damage. Watch out though, if you're too close he'll grab you. Stay away from his legs too, they'll hurt you when he moves. When he gets down to about a third of his health he'll shoot flames out of his sides and turn red hot. Now the real fight begins. He shoot his flame balls at you constantly and all his attacks will become much faster. Fortunately you'll only have to halve his remaining life bar before he slumps down and you can use an OT. DO NOT FORGET TO BLOCK ONCE HIS LIFE BAR HAS DEPLETED! If you fail to do so, you'll die. No matter the difficulty, no matter the amount of health you have.
Chapter 8
Goliath Fiend
Difficulty-Moderately Easy
Recommended Weapon-Whatever ya got.
Special Attacks-
The big guy is back and he brought some friends. Two mech fiends and some rocket troops. You have a bigger area to play around in than last time, so if you need to pull the other enemies to the side and give them a stern talking to, do so. Otherwise just let loose and enjoy the lack of difficulty. Like before he can be OT'd so dispatch him when he slumps down.
Zedonius
Difficulty-Medium
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword or DC/TF
Special Attacks-
Fireballs (Shoots fireballs at you………duh)
Landing (lands and creates a shockwave of fire)
This guy isn't too difficult, but he hits hard and he likes to float around and shoot fireballs. Wait until he lands (though be careful, because it can hurt you when he does) and let loose with flying swallows or your favorite combos. For some reason the DC/TF simply devastates him so I'd suggest using that if you've leveled it up. Just stay close and don't give him a reason to get back in the air and immolate you with his flames by running away. Deblas points out that the Piercing Void ninpo does some pretty good damage to Zendonius, so once he's on the ground let him have it.
Chapter 9
Cave Worm
Difficulty-Easy
Recommended Weapon-Bow
Special Attacks-
Grab (grabs you with his mouth and drags you along)
Sit in a tunnel and shoot him with fully charged arrows when he comes by. That's. About. It. If, however you run out of arrows, then cast your Phoneix Flame ninpo and run down the tunnel until he runs into the birds, the let him have it with the scythe. Be warned, if he grabs you with his mouth, you might be on a ride you won't get off of, so try to stay to the side of him. Many people have suggested UTing with various weapons like the Scythe or the Talons to stop the worm, which does work, but the timing is somewhat precise and if you miss, well then it could be a bad day for you. I'd stick with the ninpo, but if you're out of that too, keep it in mind.
Double Dragons
Difficulty-Moderately Hard
Recommended Weapon-The Bow is the only thing that works
Special Attacks-
Magma Ball (Sends a positively humongous fireball at you.)
Fireball Volley (Fires three fireballs at you consecutively)
Laser (Shoots a laser and makes the ground explode a second later)
Flame Breath (Breathes flames at you)
These guys mostly only attack with projectiles so as you can guess there will be no blocking during this fight. All of their attacks do huge damage, the most damaging of which is their magma ball. It's slow moving though and it lights up the arena so even if you don't see the actual ball you'll know to get out of the way. The attack you really have to watch out for is the laser, it's fast and has been known to kill players outright in higher difficulties, so keep vigil and make sure to dodge it. The best thing to do is get a rhythm going. One dragon will stop, attack, and then fly around; then the other will do the same. Wait for the moment when both are flying around and charge up an arrow. When one stops, hit it, dodge the attack, and repeat with the other. The Inferno ninpo does awesome damage here so don't be afraid to use it, though be wary, if you cast a ninpo while the dragon is CHARGING his magma ball, then you might be setting yourself up to get a face full of hurt. Sometimes, they'll summon winged fiends to help them, but just focus on the dragons. Their attacks hurt way more. If you want to drastically reduce the difficulty, use the Peircing Void ninpo on these guys, it does HUGE damage to them which effectively halves the difficulty.
Chapter 10
Single Dragon
Difficulty-Easy
Recommended Weapon-The Bow is the only thing that works
Special Attacks-
Magma Ball (Sends a positively humongous fireball at you.)
Fireball Volley (Fires three fireballs at you consecutively)
Laser (Shoots a laser and makes the ground explode a second later)
Boy this battle is so much easier compared to the last, especially since you've already had practice, and you don't have another Dragon to worry about. Just do like before and you'll win this one in seconds.
Elizébet
Difficulty-Moderately Easy
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword
Special Attacks
Blood Rain (Creates a sphere of blood and shoots small blood spikes from it)
Flying Swallow
She reminds me a lot of Alma, though she's nowhere near as hard. Flying Swallows work on her so swat her out of the air if she gets a little too "floaty." She has a flying swallow of her own, which she'll use a lot but this is actually a plus in this battle. For one, it's blockable, and for two, she ends up right behind you after she does it, so turn around and let her have it. Also unlike some bosses, she apparently can't go a different direction once she uses her Dash/Flying Swallow so for fun, start casting ninpo and make her run into you during the invincibility frames, and stop her dead in her tracks. She likes to try to be evasive but she never gets that far away from you, just chase her down once she's in your range, and block when you see her rear back like she's about to charge. She has one projectile attack but I found that to be pretty rare, considering she likes to get in close.
Chapter 11
Genshin
Difficulty- Hard
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword
Special Attacks-
Izuna Drop
Shurikens
Teleport
Flying Swallow
Yes, that's right. He has his own Izuna Drop and it hurts. Badly. He leads into it with a combo, most of which is unblockable or breaks your guard, so don't stick around too long. He can teleport too now, so expect to be hopping around a lot. Like before, remain as patient as a ninja and don't get caught up in a combo. Yours, or his. Once again he throws shurikens at a distance, but once again it's nothing worth mentioning.
Chapter 12
Double Armadillo
Difficulty-Medium
Recommended Weapon-Incendiary Shuriken, Dragon Sword, Scythe
Special Attacks-
Roll (Balls up and rolls after you)
Trample (Steps on you. Happens anytime it moves)
Flame Breath (Breathes fire from (his) right to left)
Eruption (Shoots balls of magma everywhere)
Overheat (Goes ballistic)
This battle could prove to be very difficult if you divide your attention, so focus on one. Trust me when I say you do NOT want two of these things in a berserk state. Follow the same tactics you did previously, but when the second one gets a little rowdy, use the one you're working on as a shield. Fortunately they tend to just wander around, not going after you specifically, so you should have some decent room to work with. If not, try to lure one away. As always watch out for his mouth so you don't get grabbed, and do your best to avoid him when he gets rolling. Good luck.
Zedonius
Difficulty-Moderately Easy
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword or DC/TF
Special Attacks
Fireballs (Shoots fireballs at you………duh)
Landing (lands and creates a shockwave of fire)
Basically he's the same as before albeit a bit faster on the heels. Oh, and you're surrounded by lava. Just let him fly around and get all of the fireballs out of his system then smack him around when he lands. He's strong but completely manageable. On a side note, watch out for the jellyfish that sit in front of the exit of the area after the battle. Find the opening then shoot a few charged arrows at the lava. I add this because it's a good way to get killed and have to do the boss over again, and no one wants that.
Volf
Difficulty-Easy
Recommended Weapon-Scythe
Special Attacks-
Running Tackle
Your Inferno ninpo will take care of the centaurs easily, just worry about the big guy. He should be even easier now that you have the Scythe so rip him open and use the essence from the centaurs to do UTs.
Chapter 13
He's the same as before only he wants to throw more, and he's a bit more fleet-footed. Just be aggressive and give him some lovely red make up to wear.
Chapter 14
Genshin
Difficulty-Medium Hard
Recommended Weapon-Something Fast
Special Attacks
Shurikens
Flying Swallow
He's a bit more of a powerhouse now, and even faster. Even Ryu might have trouble keeping up with him but keep him in your sights and dodge his attacks as best you can. Don't bother too much with Flying Swallows. He'll just use his own, which will occasionally swat you out of the air if you were too slow pressing the Y button. It's hard to get your hands on him, but once you do don't get arrogant, he doesn't stun easily, and he has a few combos of his own.
Elizébet
Difficulty-Moderately Easy
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword
Special Attacks
Blood Rain (Creates a sphere of blood and shoots small blood spikes from it)
Flying Swallow
She hasn't changed too much really, though she seems fonder of her blood attack and less fond of close quarters combat. Take the fight to her with a flying swallow or two and give it to her good...big daddy.
Infernal Priest Dagra Dai
Difficulty-Hard
Recommended Weapon-Dragon Sword or Scythe
Special Attacks-
Lightning (Shoots lightning bolts at you)
Dark Geyser (Stabs tentacles into the ground and makes black geysers erupt out of the ground. Finishes it by shooting a white beam)
Summon Fiends
Teleport
There's two ways this battle can happen:
1. He sticks his tentacles in the ground in the first few moments of battle. If this happens start dash-jumping to avoid his geysers of dark energy. The white beam he fires afterwards is pretty accurate but try your best to dodge it. He'll do this a couple of times, and eventually come down to try and combo you or throw you. Do what ever you need to quickly because he'll be back in the air before you know it. I hear that you can reach him in the air with the XY combo of the Scythe but it's not something I've personally tried.
2. He summons fiends in the first few moments of battle. If this happens, he'll come down immediately and stick around for a lot longer. In this phase he'll use his lightning attack a lot more often; you'll probably get hit once or twice with the lightning but just shrug it off and keep moving. I wouldn't worry about the fiends unless you need essence (UT's sometimes work) or they're causing a problem, in which case dispatch of one or two with the Inferno ninpo.
If at anytime, he starts floating around randomly, not doing much, this is the time to go all out. He won't attack you until he lands again, so think of it as a taunt of sorts. Depending on his health, you might be able to dispatch him in that time so don't hold back.
Archfiend
Difficulty-Medium
Recommended Weapon-Bow
Special Attacks-
Beam (Shoots a beam from his mouth directly at you)
Sweeping Beam (Shoots a beam from his orb from (his) left to right)
Homing Skulls (Sends out multiple flaming skulls that follow you)
Blood Vomit (Vomits Blood on to you)
Pound (Tries to flatten you with his fist)
This guy isn't so tough, but his attacks hurt a lot, especially when he tries to smash you. This will take over half your health so it could kill you rather easily. If you see his hand raise start dash-jumping, his hand is pretty big and it covers a lot of area. In order to do significant damage to him, you'll have to hit him in the face with a fully charged arrow and then when the orb in his stomach glows, hit him there. He will use his blood vomit attack every time you perform a successful attack (though those aren't the only times he'll do it) so pop him one and move. He'll send flaming skulls after you frequently, but they aren't terribly hard to dodge, just keep moving. His beam attacks are dangerous, but there's a brief charge period so you should see it coming. If he fires from his mouth, it'll be aimed directly at you, and if he fires from his stomach it will sweep the arena from (his) left to right. If you're charging up an arrow when he starts this attack, you can stop it by hitting him in the face with an arrow. Occasionally, he'll start to move upward and you'll have to follow him, but I'm not sure if that has any real significance other than a change in area.
Archfiend Reborn
Difficulty-Moderately Hard
Recommended Weapon-Any
Special Attacks-
Pound (Tries to flatten you with his fists)
Beam (Shoots a beam directly in front of him)
Sweeping Beam (Shoots a laser to either the left or the right depending on the side you're on)
Fireballs (Shoots fireballs rapidly)
Standing directly in front of him is a horrible, horrible idea. You'll either get thrown or a face full of laser, and both cause more damage than you'll want to deal with. Stay to the left of him and attack his claw while he's hanging on the cliff. I say to left because when he uses his laser, there is a cliff that sticks out slightly more not too far from his hand. If you press yourself against it you'll effectively dodge the laser and his horribly painful ground pound, and be ready to launch a counter attack. Eventually, he'll start flying around sending the fireballs at you. They come pretty fast so just worry about dodging. If he lands on the platform attack his ankles and watch out for his tail. I don't condone spamming personally, but if you're having a difficult time and just want to see the end, there's a variety of weapons that can keep him stunned while he's on the ledge so he never attacks, such as the scythe's XXYYYY combo. Just be mindful of his motions because he telegraphs all his moves and you should come through without too much difficulty.

Test of Valor Guide
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In order to partake in Tests of Valor, one must first find the Rod of Trials. This "Rod of Trials" is obtained in Chapter 2 after retrieving the sacred Falcon's Talons. Upon exiting the domain, one will be attacked by many of Ninja. This is a test. A test to see if one is worthy of the Rod of Trials. Complete this test and the rod shall be yours.
Valor Test 1
}One of White{
Chapter 3 - After Bird Flipping out of the subway car and make your way through narrow corridor infested with enemies you will come to a clearing. You will see the portal to the 1st Test of Valor on the other side. To get there you must drop down and defeat all the enemies. Then after climbing some stairs you must turn around and wall run off of the walls. You will land in front of a shop, use this to stock up for the challenge. Further ahead on the walkway is a save point, the portal is in front of the save point. Wall run off the small wall and you will be at your destination.
Enemies:
Ninjas
Strategy: These are your typical everyday ninjas. Do whatever you usually do to take them out.
Reward:
Lives of the Thousand Gods
Valor Test 2
}Two of Black{
Chapter 4 - After you defeat the Blind Monster mini-boss you will have a change of location; now you will be on Liberty Island. When you first set boot in the base of the statue of liberty you will be in a ninja exhibit. After clearing the room of enemies break the glass to the Duel Swords and the save point.
Enemies:
Demon Spawn
Strategy: Obliteration Technique is your best friend here. Do whatever you must to remove some limbs off of them as fast as possible and then just obliterate. I recommend casting the Art of the Wind Blades to get rid of the limbs and then just clean up afterwards. Use as much of your Ninpo as necessary because it will help greatly and it refills upon exiting.
Reward:
Talisman of Rebirth
Valor Test 3
}Three of Blue{
Chapter 5 - In the wine cellar you well eventually come to a wooden floor tile that you must break through. Do a ground pound and you will fall down the shaft and land in the water below and you will be right on the portal to the 3rd Test of Valor. There is a save point further up ahead but you will be met with some resistance if you try to make your way for it.
Enemies:
Flying Demons
Werewolves
Strategy: Equip your incendiary shurikens and run around the outer part of the arena. Jump throw shurikens at the flying demon. when you run out switch to your arrows. If you run out of arrows there are some on the dead ninja's bodies. Keep doing this until there are no more remaining. Now all you need to do is focus on the werewolves. Try not to stray to far from them or they will start throwing limbs which causes massive damage.
Reward:
Jewel of the Demon Seal
Valor Test 4
}Four of Green{
Chapter 6 - When you finally get out of the skull pit and explore the new outside area, you will enjoy another cut scene. After the cut scene make your way through the newly unlocked door. You will find yourself climbing many flights of steps and constantly getting attacked. At the top you will be at the base of some even fancier stairs. On the other side of the pool the portal to the 4th Test of Valor can be seen. There is a save point further up the fancy steps but you will be attacked if you try to save.
Enemies:
Bats
Centipedes
Strategy:
Reward:
Lives of the Thousand Gods
Valor Test 5
}Five of Yellow{
Chapter 7
Enemies:
RPG Ninjas
Tac Ninjas
Giant Demon Mech
Reward:
Jewel of the Demon Seal
Valor Test 6
}Six of White{
Chapter 8 - After the under ground/water part you will come to a ladder. You will have to to the Flying Bird Flip to make it out. Blow a whole in the wall with the incendiary shurikens and then you will be in a huge lobby. There will be a save point down the stairs and a shop on the other balcony from where you entered. Use this to stock up on whatever you need. Then when you are ready, head downstairs, follow the red carpet and go through the huge brown door to the Gate of the 6th Test of Valor. There is a box of arrows to the right of the gate.
Enemies:
Small Mech
6pack RPG Ninjsa
Strategy: During this challenge you are under constant fire from both automatic machine guns and burst fire rockets. The best chance of staying alive is to constantly be moving (especially in air) and blocking whenever you are under fire (you usually get forced into blocking if you stay on the ground). Focus on the rocket ninjas first because their rockets can break your block and can hit you very easily when you're in the air. Move around the outer part of the arena and do the Flying Swallow Technique to quickly dispose of the rocket ninjas. Then when they stop spawning focus your attention on the mechs. The only threat that they can be to you is if you get to close to them; they will shoot and charge into you. Again just use the Flying Swallow Technique to stay off the ground. When they die they blow up so make sure to avoid the blast (you can block the explosion).
Reward:
Jewel of the Demon Seal
Valor Test 7
}Seven of Red{
Chapter 9 - After the underground worm fight you will finally be outside. You will make it to a swampy area. Here you will be attacked by extremely annoying and difficult to kill swamp worms. I recommend running past them. Up ahead will be a body of water infested with huge fish things. Again just run past them. Now you will be in a clearing where you will see the Gate to the 7th Test of Valor along with a save point directly in front. To the right is a shop, use it to restock for the battle.
Enemies:
Bone Scorpions
Spiky Fiends
Strategy: This is probably one of the easiest challenges. There will be many enemies so the only problem you might face is some frame rate issues, other than that there is no thereat at all. Use the Lunar Staff and keep spamming Y and UT's. If you ever happen to feel overwhelmed just use the Wind Blades Ninpo and it will take out everyone. The fight will be over before you know it.
Reward:
Talisman of Rebirth
Valor Test 8
}Eight of White{
Chapter 10 - After crossing the wooden bridge you will be welcomed by a bunch of Chainsaw Demons. Take them all out to activate the portal to the 8th Test of Valor. There is a save point right in front and there was a shop right before the bridge.
Enemies:
Undead Fish
Blood Centipedes
Strategy: This one is almost as easy as the last one. Have the Wind Blades Ninpo equipped and as soon as the fight starts activate it. You will get rid of all the ghost fish right away and cut off the limbs of the centipedes. Now all you have to do is obliterate the wounded centipedes and quick charge UT's from the essence dropped by the ghost fish to finish off any remaining.
Reward:
Grains of Spiritual Rice
Yellow Essence
Valor Test 9
}Nine of Violet{
Chapter 11 - After the part when you have to climb the hill with the over brush you will make your way to a save point on top of a wooden ledge. Behind the save point is a cave. In this cave is the portal to the 9th and final Test of Valor. The closest shop was back by the encounter with the 2 spiders after you obtain the Windmill Shuriken.
Enemies:
Ninja Dogs
Ninjas
Strategy: The key here is to be more agile than the Ninja Dogs. Just keep using the Flying Swallow with the True Dragon sword and it will be fairly easy. Whenever you land instantly block just for safety, then jump into a Flying Swallow whenever possible.
Reward:
Lives of the Thousand Gods
