De Phantom is een console waar reeds veel over gediscussieërd is maar nog niet veel van gezien. Nu maakte de uitbater van Infinium Labs het besturingssysteem bekend.
Ze zullen een versie van Windows XP gebruiken, dit wordt dus de eerste echte console PC. Ze hebben die versie gekocht van Venturcom, een van de verdelers van Microsoft.
"Venturcom will provide an extensive and deep level of support to Infinium Labs during the development and testing phases of the PhantomOS project," said Will Hornkohl, director of Microsoft business development at Venturcom. "Our flexible support for Microsoft Windows Embedded operating systems will allow Infinium Labs to leverage our team of Windows Embedded Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) expert support personnel and our direct technical ties with Microsoft for expeditious resolution of critical problems."
"We are extremely excited to work with Venturcom to achieve one of our major goals of becoming a Microsoft licensed OEM," added Timothy Roberts, president and CEO of Infinium Labs Corporation. "This step forward allows us to continue to develop the PhantomOS using Windows XP Embedded to build our own unique operating system and graphic user interface that will set us apart from other game platforms."
Als je niet weet wat de Phantom is, zal ik even beetje uitleg geven. De spellen voor deze 'console' zul je niet in de winkel kunnen kopen maar je zal ze moeten downloaden, tegen betaling natuurlijk. De officiële site kan je hier vinden en dit zijn de specificaties.
