Persona 5: The Phantom X aankondigd voor iOS en Android

In april 2021 kregen we al een teaser van een mobiele Persona 5 game, destijds onder de werknaam 'X'. Vandaag kondigen uitgever Perfect World Games en ontwikkelaar Black Wings Game Studio de game officieel aan onder de naam Persona 5: The Phantom X, te verschijnen op iOS en Android. Het betreft een free-to-play titel met aan te schaffen items.
De eerste speeltest staat gepland voor 29 maart, vooralsnog alleen in China. Opvallend genoeg is er bij de aankondiging niets te lezen over een PC versie, toch zal de speeltest op dit platform plaatsvinden, evenals op Android systemen.
The Phantom X speelt zich af binnen de wereld van Persona 5, om precies te zijn in Tokyo. We volgen een verhaal dat draait om een groep Phantom Thieves, waarbij de stijl en de gameplay uit de originele game bewaard blijft, terwijl gebruikerservaring en presentatie is geoptimaliseerd voor de smartphone.
The game is focused on the theme of “desire,” and tells the story of students who have awakened to their “Personas,” facing difficulties together in an era of “low desire.” A mysterious old man with a long nose, a strange underwater room, an owl that can speak human language, and another world separate from reality—these seemingly unrelated things are all somehow connected.
Players will take on the role of a student, attending classes during the day and participating in activities such as baseball or watching movies with friends during their free time. After school, they can infiltrate the other world, which appears in the form of palaces with different themes, and use their Personas to engage in high-octane battles against enemies.
