Toen vorig jaar de eerste gameplaydemo van Cyberpunk 2077 online verscheen vroegen velen zich af of de game wel op de huidige consolehardware kon draaien. Deze E3 is duidelijk geworden dat dat zeker kan en wel vanaf 16 april volgend jaar. Dit zal waarschijnlijk niet de enige launchdatum van de game zijn.
In een interview met Eurogamer geeft Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko aan dat CD Projekt Red enorm vooruit kijkt naar Scarlett en PlayStation 5. De focus voor Cyberpunk 2077 ligt nu echter nog op de PlayStation 4 en Xbox One.

Met deze uitspraak is het goed mogelijk dat de studio al vroege plannen heeft voor een eventuele verbeterde re-release van de game op de volgende generatie consoles. Dat is echter voor later, Sasko geeft namelijk aan dat het belangrijk is te focussen op dat wat er nu is.

In de ontwikkeling van The Witcher 3 leerde de studio dat je niet moet wachten met het werken aan consoleversies. Ten alle tijde heeft de studio de game dan ook draaiende op de verschillende apparaten. Gezien de huidige consoles al enige tijd oud zijn ziet niet alles er even goed uit als de huidige high-end versie, maar de studio doet haar best eruit te halen wat mogelijk is.
