De Amiibo's zijn voor de één een leuk spelfiguur in een vitrine, terwijl het voor de ander een actief gebruik heeft in games. Dit laatste is nu net wat veel gamers tegen het zere borst stuit.
Bepaalde content in games is namelijk enkel toegankelijk wanneer je hier de juiste Amiibo voor gebruikt. Shigeru Miyamoto geeft nu aan dat ze dit niet zullen doen bij Star Fox Zero. Hoewel Amiibo's gebruikt kunnen worden om nieuwe skins in de game te verkrijgen is het niet zo dat modi enkel toegankelijk zijn door het gebruik ervan.
